The Haitian Rehabilitation Foundation (FONHARE) has, since its creation, stood as more than an institution. It is a beacon of hope, a voice for inclusion, and a driving force transforming lives across the Nord-Est region and beyond.
For 14 years, we have supported children, women, and men living with disabilities by providing not only essential care and adaptive technologies, but also dignity, confidence, and the opportunity to participate fully in society.
🌍 Today – December 3, 2025
On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, celebrated annually on December 3 in accordance with the United Nations resolution adopted in 1992, FONHARE is organizing a public awareness parade followed by an inclusive football match.
This friendly encounter will feature:
- AFCAN, the Cap-Haïtien football team of persons with disabilities
- OFC, the Ouanaminthe Women’s Football Club
🎯 Purpose of the Event
This initiative aims to promote inclusion, social participation, and the recognition of the talents of persons living with disabilities. It reflects the spirit of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which affirms that equal opportunity and full participation are fundamental human rights.
🌐 Background and Significance
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was established to raise global awareness of the realities faced by persons with disabilities and to encourage concrete actions that advance accessibility, autonomy, and respect for human dignity.
In Haiti, this day carries particular importance. It highlights the resilience, strength, and extraordinary potential of thousands of citizens who are too often marginalized or overlooked.
FONHARE’s Core Values
Since its founding, FONHARE has worked with passion and determination to:
